| dc.description.abstract | In order to find the reasons behind Julia Quinn’s popularity in the twenty-first century, a detailed explanation is given on why the Bridgerton book series is considered Regency-set historical romance novels while looking for similarities and differences between the social roles and perceptions of Regency women and twentieth-century women. Therefore, women's lives during and after the World Wars are discussed as well. Besides, since the main driving forces in these novels are love and family connections, therefore, the aim of my thesis is to answer the following question: Do the female members of the Bridgerton family have so much power sexually and domestically over families’, especially their husbands’ lives, choices and deeds in the Regency period? To support my statements, Jane Austen, as a true Regency woman writer, is going to be simultaneously discussed in certain chapters of this essay. Moreover, core elements from the eighteenth- and nineteenth-century novels are examined as renewed elements in the Bridgerton series. | hu_HU |
