Colony stimulating factors are naturally occurring proteins that promote the growth. Synthesized versions exist that bind the same receptors, often acting in the same ways as their organic counterparts. This thesis aims to outline the role of said proteins and the drugs that are formulated to replicate their functions in the context of a reduction in number of a specific white blood cell, the neutrophil granulocyte.
