dc.description.abstracthe negative narratives the Hollywood film industry has been putting out for years marginalizing minorities has finally gained some traction, however, the harmful effects are irreversible. In this thesis, I will be putting into perspective the ethnic/racial misconceptions present in American cinematography by focusing on one of the frequently under- and misrepresented minorities: the Asian American community. In order to get an overall idea of their roles throughout the years, I intend to use three cinematic pieces which were released in quite different time periods, thus showcasing the “progress” and perception of Asians as a minority in the eyes of the American society.hu_HU
