dc.description.abstractStroke remains a leading cause of mortality and long-term disability worldwide. To promote functioning after stroke, especially considering the aging of the global population, researchers are constantly and continuously committed to providing advancements in pharmacological treatments for stroke. New therapies are emerging from an increased understanding of stroke types and pathophysiology, with current treatments focusing on thrombolysis, anticoagulation, and neuroprotection. Secondary prevention strategies are also critical, especially in the management of hypertension, atrial fibrillation, and dyslipidemia. Future research is full of potential, particularly in the fields of precision medicine and neurorecovery. Regenerative therapies are at the forefront, aiming to restore function even months after the initial event. Inflammation and immune response also represent key targets for new drug development. The ongoing evolution of stroke pharmacotherapy promises to refine and improve the management of this complex condition, aiming not only to save lives but also to improve the quality of life for stroke survivors.
