Absztrakt
Cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) are among the biggest contributors of costs associated with the treatment of T2DM. Since healthcare spending is a finite resource, there is a need to identify individuals or geographies with a high risk of developing CVDs, so that cost-effective prevention measures can be targeted, thus avoiding expensive treatment, and reducing the mortality and morbidity of the patient. The aim of the EUBIROD project was to conceive and validate a new risk prediction model, namely the SCORE2-Diabetes, to calculate the 10-year fatal as well as non-fatal CVD risk in individuals with T2DM, without previous CVD or diabetes, in four geographical risk areas in Europe.
