Ischemic heart disease remains the leading cause of death in adults in the United States despite a decrease in the mortality rate of coronary heart disease in the last four years. Angina pectoris serves as a predictor of serious ischemic heart events, therefore attention should be paid to its prompt diagnosis and treatment. This thesis aims to review the existing and potential pharmacological agents used in the treatment of angina pectoris. The aim of treatment should be to provide symptomatic relief for patients and also improve morbidity.
