My research aims to determine the mineral intake of sheep for wool production in realtionship with seasonal and environmental changes. It also conducts the correlation between a) season and breed, b) breed and genotype. The measurement of the mineral content of wool to determine the mineral status of animals has a long history, however the results are debatable. It has been hypothesized that samples used for studies were taken from long fleece, which could mask the effects of mineral intake. In our study, we applied a different level of dietary inclusion and then added supplementation. The results indicated that the higher the level of dietary intake, the greater the mineral content of the wool. In general, our results have shown clear differences in mineral concentrations between different months of the research. We could very easily prove seasonal effect as we can observe significant differences among both factors, seasons and breed.
