This thesis investigates the viability of fair trade practices in Azerbaijan by examining the context of its current trade landscape, the major sectors of trade (such as agriculture and handicrafts) and drawing international comparisons. It acknowledges that there are barriers to fair trade implementation (such as lack of knowledge, certification barriers and government support) while indentifying opportunities (in the form of digital platforms, ethical tourism and global cooperation). The research utilizes a range of secondary research and case analysis of several relevant countries (including Georgia, Turkey and the UK) to take lessons. The findings suggest that fair trade could be facilitated by policy support and stakeholder engagement, positively contribute to sustainable development, empower rural producers and diversity the economy. The thesis ends with the strategic recommendations to grow and enhance fair trade practices in Azerbaijan.
