In this literature review, we classified different methods, instruments, and materials to remove the root canal filling materials, also discussed each of them in detail and listed their pros and cons, their efficacy, and in some cases, a combination of some methods to reach the maximum efficiency. Application of the different methods could be effective, however not entirely, eliminate root canal filling materials. There may be not too many differences between the different rotary instruments. Comparing though with hand instruments, rotary do better job in removing debris and filling material but combining the two may give us a lot better results.
