The realm of OB/GYN has been significantly shaped by the global sweep of the COVID-19 pandemic. Pregnant women faced numerous uncertainties, and based on previous coronavirus infections such as SARS and MERS, they are considered at increased risk for severe SARS-CoV-2 infection. Pregnancy-related biological changes in immune, respiratory, cardiovascular, and clotting systems may influence disease progression, though the total effect of the virus on pregnancy remains unclear. Hence, there is a need for international efforts to investigate impacts on implantation, fetal development, labor, and maternal-newborn health. In addition to asymptomatic cases complicating prevention and management, indirect consequences include reduced access to reproductive care, worsening mental health, and socioeconomic strain. This analysis reviews current knowledge of COVID-19 in pregnancy, explores its influence on gynecological conditions, and highlights areas needing further research to lessen its impact on women and newborns.
