Absztrakt

Bimalleolar fractures are unstable ankle injuries that require restoration of anatomical alignment and joint stability. This thesis reviewed different surgical techniques and their treatment outcomes. Plate fixation remains standard for the lateral malleolus, while screw fixation is commonly used for the medial malleolus, with alternative techniques useful in selected fracture patterns. Accurate reduction of the syndesmosis and posterior malleolus is often more important than the specific implant used. Treatment success also depends on fracture morphology, perioperative care, and rehabilitation. Overall, no single technique is universally superior, and treatment should be individualised for each patient.
