The subject matter of my thesis is Sir Winston Leonard Spencer Churchill’s political activities in the period of the late thirties and early fifties. I found this topic worth pursuing because this period (and Churchill as a charismatic leader) beyond doubt determined and shaped the following decades of British history. The world-wide political and diplomatic activities of this period anticipated the world order after the war, namely the bipolar worldorder in which Britain played a crucial role as a significant power with world-wide interests.
