American football is widely regarded to be one of the most influential sports in the world nowadays. Although its biggest fan base is in the United States many other countries managed to establish a solid fan base. Gridiron football has appeared in numerous countries or the last century, and I am convinced that the globalization of American football is very exceptional phenomenon, since it is happening right now, in front of our eyes. Thus I chose to give a brief outline of the globalization process of American football. I represent the key steps and features of the process. What is interesting this process is that the National Football League had not been trying to establish a sound governing body and fan base in Europe before the 1990s.
