The aim of this study is to investigate different factors affecting the quality of colostrum, including number of lactations, season of calving, time of birth, and sire of dam, in order to improve the health management of young calves. Mainly, 919 dams in their first to seventh lactations and 919 calves from Nyakas farms, Hajdúnánás, Hungary, were enrolled in this study. After that, colostrum obtained from the dam was measured in volume and quality. As well as the level of immunoglobulin G, serum obtained from calves provided with colostrum was assessed for IgG concentration within two to five days. In addition, the scale for measuring the quality of colostrum and the level of IgG was in %Brix which was performed by a Milwaukee Refractometer (MA871) and a MISCO Palm Abbe refractometer, respectively. After all the data were recorded, different parameters were calculated by Software R version 4.1.2 regarding the factors affecting the quality of colostrum.hu_HU
