Absztrakt
Jeanette Winterson has constantly questioned traditional concepts concerning the body, language, the fantastic and the problem of representation. In her writings she keeps stretching the limits of our beliefs, concepts by attempting to make us step out of the well-known sphere of ideas and our comprehension. In Written on the Body she continues this habit, but in this novel she questions not only body, language, the fantastic and the problem of representation, but brings desire, love into question as well by discussing it in the fields of body, language and fantasy. By questioning the traditional values, Winterson leaves the reader in confusion, she does not provide a clear set of ideas; instead she leaves this grand task for the readers. She gives the hints for another approach, but does not provide a solution.
