In my thesis I intend to shed light upon a genre that is often disregarded and forgotten, namely, mad scientist horror movies. My main focus point will be that these films developed and changed rapidly after World War II. I find it fascinating that the genre and the movies at their time accurately envisioned a possible future, and raised questions that are relevant and significant even in our modern society. I will analyze three movies, from different time periods, that represent the genre and the ideals of the time. I chose these films according to three aspects, which I find important and which describes best the alterations of the genre, these are the following; the mad scientist character, the role of women in science and finally the creature, or monster that is created, and how it is born.
