Québec can be found in the east-central part of Canada. As noted, it is the only Canadian province where the French language is spoken by the majority of the population. Here French is the sole official language with the adoption of the Official Language Act by the National Assembly in 1977. Consequently, the English-speaking people have formed a linguistic minority community in the province. In my thesis I have the intention of describing the current situation of this minority group in different areas of life, showing how it has changed compared to the situation in the 1970’s and 1980’s. I would like to demonstrate that today the English-speaking people have an important role in the life of Québec.hu_HU
