Roles of pharmacotherapy and dietotherapy in type II diabetes mellitus

Absztrakt

Diabetes is metabolic disease, results increased blood glucose level, which is increasing in past 10 years among the population, especially in western countries.

Type II diabetes mellitus or non insulin dependent diabetes. It has a direct connection with lifestyle and diet, it will be caused due to insulin resistance and in combined with decrease amount of insulin production.

First line of pharmaceutical therapy in T2DM is oral anti diabetic treatment, which are driven into five groups: Biguanides, Sulfonylureas, Dipeptidyl peptidase 4 (DPP4) inhibitors, Glucagon like peptide 1 (GLP 1) analogues, Sodium glucose co transporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitors. Insulin therapy can be used in the last stage in conventional and intensive form. Diet and lifestyle play an important role in treatment of T2DM.
