In my thesis I am going to analyse the Hamlet adaptations of Franco Zeffirelli and Michael Almereyda. As the aspects of this topic are too manifold and various, I am going to concentrate on three themes, namely gender, feminine sexuality and transgression. The aim of this thesis is to call attention to the fact that although the directors have used the same source, their versions are different, to portray these alterations, and the use of cinematic techniques, concerning the above mentioned three topics.
