In my thesis I argue that as the events and facts concerning Mary and Knox are rather ambiguous and shady, no interpretation or account can be considered as objective: both the personages in question and the later periods were influenced by their own social, cultural and political backgrounds. Mary and Knox both could perceive the other only from the perspective provided by their own background and this was what led to their incapability to reconcile.
