Abstract

This article reviews cellular mechanisms, classification, pharmacological treatment of scar. Many factors that prolong the inflammatory stage have been identified. Myofibroblasts are key cells during wound healing. It has become increasingly evident that a lack of myofibroblast apoptosis is a major mechanism leading to excessive scarring.
