dc.description.abstractThis thesis aims to explore the various effects of incretins on the many systems of the body and how they can be utilized pharmacologically. It will investigate their use in treatment for diabetes mellitus type 2, which they were initially introduced as treatment for. But also, this analysis will offer an insight possible benefit of incretins when looking at diseases other than diabetes, such as obesity, cardiovascular disease, neurological disorders, and others. When utilizing these medications for these additional reasons, it's crucial to consider their potential adverse effects and safety profiles as well. And indications in various specific cases. This study includes a comprehensive analysis of possible therapeutic modalities of incretins due to their pleiotropic nature.
