This thesis reviews the various pathways and molecular entities involved in the development and progression of Atopic Dermatitis. It dismantles the core components that are implicated in the pathogenesis of this disease. Furthermore, it sheds light on the background of the multiple triggers and maintainers of the inflammatory cascades which are present. Included within the context of this thesis are the possible extracutaneous consequences of this inflammatory condition. Finally, this work discusses not only the present therapeutic modalities available to manage this disease, but also the diverse possibilities of targeted treatment plans which may be available in the future.hu_HU
