This thesis presents the economic and trade developments and characteristics of the Belt and Road Initiative between China and the Central and Eastern European countries, with a particular focus on China and the Visegrad countries. In addition, the thesis presents the current constraining challenges and great opportunities for both sides and discusses the reasons for them. Finally, it proposes comprehensive recommendations and future directions to promote economic and trade development between China and the Central and Eastern European countries.
