In my dissertation, it is my aim to explore how Promising Young Woman functions as a cinematic critique of rape culture and its pervasiveness while positioning the film against the conventions of the rape and revenge narrative through comparative and interpretive analyses backed by social, political and pop culture discourse and intertextual reading.
