Rapid economic expansion has wreaked havoc on the environment and harmed peoples health. Environmental issues have piqued peoples interest in recent decades, and environmental problems are on the rise. Businesses are the primary source of pollution. This has raised global attention to the need for higher sustainability measures and stricter corporate environmental responsibility regulations. Because the importance of environmental preservation has only been known for a few decades, the notion of global environmental protection is still fairly underdeveloped. This means that international environmental protection concepts haven’t had enough time to mature. In recent years, the concept of sustainability has become increasingly important in the corporate sector. Even while more businesses are embracing sustainability principles across their entire organization, operations, and business processes, many are still falling short of their goals. While a lot has been done in terms of global laws and regulations to ensure that there are business laws which encourage sustainability and which also incorporate corporate environmental responsibility in other to ensure that the environment is protected, there is still a lot to be done in ensuring that businesses adhere to environmental best practices while carrying out their activities. The overall concept proposed in this thesis is the need for more sustainable environmental business laws so as to reduce the harmful effects of business activities on the environment.
