The thesis presents conventional pharmacotherapy for common metabolic disorders, along with drugs and drug targets either lesser known or under research and development. It also looks at side effects, mechanisms of actions, guidelines of the drugs and how they should or should not be used in seniors. Monotherapy and combination therapy is also discussed. The metabolic disorders explored are diabetes mellitus type II, dyslipidemia, hypertension, obesity, metabolic syndrome and metabolic bone disease.
