I have chosen Winston Churchill’s political activity and life between the two World Wars for the topic of my thesis. [...] In my opinion, his versatile personality is worth knowing thoroughly for all those who have some kind of interest in the history of the 20th century. After reading many books, I must say that during the interwar years we can observe his grim determination to take actions in favour of his mother country, to protect it from any kinds of threats. However most of this time he was not in power, he always tried to do his best to be in the centre of events. He struggled to put himself to the place which he earned in political life. Despite his many failures and the people’s and his fellow politicians’ distrust, he never gave up the fight against Britain’s enemies; he never turned his back on the country. Some might say that during the interwar years he did not do any specific actions, as he was not a member of the government, but somehow he could always influence the set of events. The period between the two World Wars recovers best his most typical characteristics which were stubbornness and persistency. During these years he was no longer a young man, though his willingness to act could be exemplary.
