H.pylous the infectious gram negative bacillus is a very important cause of PUD. A few regimens exist for its treatment but all of them include PPIs. GERD is primarily a problem of the LES, primary care involves modifications of patient’s lifestyle but antacids are a crucial tool in treatment. PPI are the most effective antacids. PPIs play a crucial role in the treatment of both PUD and GERD. Surgery is a consideration in patients with chronic GERD unresponsive to medical therapy and those with complicated cases.
