An analysis of consumer perception towards organic food in Mexico

In recent decades, changes in food demand and consumption have occurred around the world, Mexicans are changing their lifestyle, choosing better food options which provide greatest benefits to their health. Studies focused on the consumption of organic foods in Mexico is scarce meanwhile the organic food market is still developing, the author analyzes and compiles information about the behavior of the current Mexican organic food consumer, the results indicates that the organic sector is gained popularity due to different perceptions which include healthiness, products free of pesticides and fertilizers and environmental concerns, being these the most important characteristics. However, although the population is willing to change into organic food naturally price is the main hurdle.
