Diabetes is one of the earliest diseases documented that mankind still hasn‘t found a cure against, with historical documents dating as far back as c. 1500 BCE. Modern medicine has certainly come a long way, as new treatments emerge regularly. In this essay some of these new exciting developments will be summarized, as well as touching upon the fundamentals of type 2 diabetes.
