Vasodilators are used as first line agents to relief symptoms of angina in clinical setting. First line vasodilating agents used in the management of angina include calcium channel blockers and nitrates. Regardless of their potent vasodilating effect on vascular smooth muscle, it is highly recommended to give either nitrate or calcium channel blocker with beta blocker because a greater coronary perfusion is achieved when the drug combination is administered.
