The thesis intends to acquaint the reader with the very early years of Anglo-Saxon Britain, starting with the features of the country under Roman rule, then focuses on the written resources available for research of these centuries. Another chapter gives a brief description of Anglo-Saxon settlement and then provides an introduction to the legend of King Arthur and the quest for his existence.
