In our digitalised world the data becomes more and more valuable in economic area. The Internet, cloud computing, and mobile devices allow each of us to access our data everywhere and at any time. On the Internet the companies can collect, process and put down personal data and it’s a huge business for them and could be chancy for citizens. The new technological developments have an undeniable impact on the protection of personal data. The Internet is global so international consensus is necessary and the legislation need to take place at a global level. The European Union has recognised a necessity of a new legal environment for data protection. This thesis examines closely the new General Data Protection Regulation. The GDPR aim at the protection of EU citizen’s personal data from huge world companies. They need to make allowance big penalties if they don’t observe the new data protection regulations. The new data protection law is one of a good example of the increasing lack of harmonisation of law in the European Union.hu_HU
