In my thesis I shall discover the relationship between art and science as well as their common field of interest. For accomplishing this, I attempt at highlighting the connection between modern Quantum Field Theories and the surrealist movement. The combination of surrealism and quantum physics appears to be a valid approach since the philosophy behind these theories of physics enabled scientist to acquire a position very similarly to what was first uttered in the First and Second Surrealist Manifesto (1924 and 1929) by André Breton. The connection is very interesting because, besides the fact that they provided aspects never seen before and they presented groundbreaking artistic achievements which shook their contemporaries’ principles concerning painting techniques or thematic considerations, theories of modern physics found their way into different works of surrealist art and thus provided the understanding of the surrounding world.
