Single incision laparoscopic surgery can also be referred to as a key hole surgery. It is a procedure which makes use of the natural scar of the body which is the umbilicus to access the internal cavity of the abdomen. This procedure can be done using a multiport or by directly inserting the trocars into the incision. It is a technique which is still in its infancy and different fields of medicine are experimenting with its use due to its improved post-surgical cosmetic results which also improves patient satisfaction.
