Insulin injections is the mainstay treatment in patients with type 1 diabetes. The dependence on insulin therapy in these patients is lifelong. Other drugs such as glucagon like peptide-1 (GLP-1) and its receptor agonists are considered to be effective and of importance in treatment of T1D. The efficacy of this treatment is still being studied and have shown great promises in various clinical trials.
