The body has evolved maladaptive biochemical mechanisms to mitigate a predicted infection when it is under psychological stress. It also triggers depression or withdrawal behavior accompanied by biochemical inflammatory cascades. the NLRP3 in the inflammasome. is responsible for triggering cellular death by pyroptosis, and is highly present in an inflamed state, its role in the complications of depression and other mental problems is hypothesized to be signaling for and inducing the localized killing of somatic cells by the pyroptotic pathway.
