The Representation of Artificial Intelligence in the Netflix Series Altered Carbon: Poe, the AI hotel

Abstract

This thesis is about the focus of Artificial Intelligence in the Netflix series Altered Carbon. The importance, social standing, emotions and the feelings of AIs are discussed through this thesis. The theoretical background of this paper was based mainly on works from Margaret Boden, Richard Barsam and Daniel Dinello. There were also references to sci-fi films and video games focusing on Artificial Intelligence. This thesis offers a close reading of Netflix's Altered Carbon, and explores the possibilities of AI representation in television.
