The main goal of the thesis was to provide a comparative analysis of The Handmaid's Tale and 1984. The two novels are similar from several aspects. First of all, they both belong to the genre of dystopia. In addition, they correlate in terms of the structure of society and power relations. In the examination of the two novels, however, their differences were also important to be taken into consideration.
