Pre-eclampsia is a hypertensive disorder of pregnancy that may target the liver, kidney, central nervous system, and vasculature. I will discuss the pathophysiological processes that define pre-eclampsia and the possible pharmacological management strategies. The prospect of new treatments or prevention directed at a variety of pathophysiological targets is optimistic.
