This thesis explores the ways that IT giants are collecting, analyzing, storing, and using Big data for profit. Large IT corporations such as Amazon, Google, and Facebook have invested billions of dollars into information technologies to maximize data collection about users. This paper looks at to what extent Big data benefits the company and to which extent it is benefitting or harming users.
