Excessive alcohol consumption remains a pressing global issue, with a mortality rate of 29.87 deaths per 100,000 population in 2019, surpassing that of several major diseases. Regional preferences for alcoholic beverages vary, with spirits dominant in certain areas and beer in others. Unrecorded alcohol consumption poses significant health risks, constituting a substantial portion of total consumption in some regions. Alcohol contributes significantly to chronic diseases, injuries, and economic costs worldwide, with varying consumption patterns and associated health impacts across different populations. Treatment for alcohol use disorders (AUD) involves both pharmacological and psychosocial approaches, with ongoing research focusing on advancements in therapy methods and the importance of personalized strategies in addressing the complexities of AUD.
