This study was performed to evaluate the efficacy of fungicides in the treatment and control of fungal diseases of sunflower and their influence on quantitative traits under field conditions and invitro. In the field experiment conducted, no disease incidence of the most important sunflower fungal diseases was observed or recorded from seedling germination through vegetative, generative growth to sunflower harvesting. This was due to the fact that the weather conditions were unfavorable for sunflower disease development, being characterized by moderately low and frequently changing rainfall and constant mean temperature and relative humidity. In addition, the experimental results showed a statistically insignificant effect of the selected fungicides on yield parameters between the fungicide-treated plots and the control. In the laboratory conditions, Zamir showed the highest performance compared to Retengo by totally inhibiting mycelial growth at all concentrations and in both 3 and 6 days after incubation. Retengo was most effective at higher concentrations as it showed a significant difference in mycelial growth and percentage inhibition of Sclerotinia sclerotiorum but the lower concentration were statistically insignificant. Conclusively, the laboratory results showed a statistically significant difference between the selected fungicides in the treatment and control of sunflower fungal diseases as compared to the field experiment.hu_HU
