In my thesis, I analysed Anne Brontë's The Tenant of Wildfell Hall. I dissected contemporary Victorian masculinity and femininity presented in the novel. My thesis includes a thorough investigation of changing social rules and ideologies of the time period. I took a closer look of the main characters and how they express either their femininity or masculinity. The thesis is mainly concerned with the novel's female lead and how she challenges contemporary social rules and how society around her reacts to her attitude.
