In my thesis, I drew a picture about the situation of women in the Victorian era. I argued that women were victims of patriarchal society.I examined family relations to analyse females' life and I used two novels to describe this situation. These novels are Tess of the D'urbervilles by Thomas Hardy and North and South by Elizabeth Gaskell.
