Absztrakt
This thesis explores the treatment of relapsing forms of multiple sclerosis (MS), an autoimmune disorder that causes demyelination, axonal damage, and neurodegeneration due to immune-mediated attacks on oligodendrocyte-derived myelin. It begins with an overview of MS types, clinical symptoms, and diagnostic approaches, followed by an in-depth examination of its pathophysiology, emphasizing the roles of T cells, B cells, and immunological tolerance in disease progression. The work reviews current treatments, including immunomodulatory agents and disease-modifying therapies delivered via injection, infusion, or oral administration, as well as options for managing acute relapses such as corticosteroids and plasmapheresis.
