Absztrakt
The leaders of The Underground Railroad, including Harriet Tubman, helped numerous slaves get away from slavery and start a new life. Enslaved individuals did not have any freedom and they were not treated as human beings but as property. They could only get help from civil abolitionists, who were willing to help slaves run away from their cruel life on the plantations. The Underground Railroad was created to make the fleeing of these people possible. My thesis aims to demonstrate the roles of the Underground Railroad leaders, especially Harriet Tubman, and further examine the many risks and challenges they faced, how they overcame these obstacles with their strategies, and the enduring impact that Harriet Tubman made with her bravery.
