Fundamentally, I intend to build my academic paper around the exploitation of the Native American people, and through pieces of historical evidence, arriving gradually at their current societal status. By discussing the general problems regarding the acculturation process forced and enacted by the government, I come to the conclusion that cultural and traditional practices of the mainstream society and the native population are so diverse that it is basically beyond possibility to completely assimilate the latter. On the contrary, I intend to prove that the present governmental standpoint regarding the support of a multicultural society is presumably the most viable strategy since the administration of President George Washington.
