Absztrakt
During my attempt to analyse and unfold the mystery of these stories I travelled into different worlds. I saw different temporal and spatial planes, alternative realities, simulated realities, and realities which recurve into themselves. I kept reinterpreting my previous interpretations, which made me feel like I am also part of a never ending Strange Loop, like a music listener who is trying to grasp the essence of the Endlessly Rising Canon43 by Bach, Canon per Tonos. In fact, trying to solve the puzzle of Donnie Darko is a recursive action. Once you find a new interpretation, you have to reinterpret the previous ones as well. Donnie Darko is like the theological debate over free will and predestination: since there is no final solution, you could go on trying to solve the puzzle to eternity and stick into Hofstadter’s Strange Loop.
